Welcome to the Cheetahs!
I have moved to 6th grade this year, after teaching 7th for about eight years. I am enjoying the change, and although I miss my old teammates I really like working with my new group of colleagues. Change is always hard for me; I think that comes with age. So maybe this is a good thing – it will keep me young and on my toes.
It sure keeps me busy, that’s for sure. Doing everything for the first time takes longer, whether it’s putting together work for absent students, trying to hang up student work in new places, or (mainly) planning lessons for stories I have to read ahead of time (obviously!) and think about how to use them to teach my students. I am lucky to have a husband who has retired and likes to cook. He makes some great dinners.
If you are new student, welcome to DDMS. And if you are one of my ‘old’ students, leave a comment and let me know how the change from 7th to 8th is going for you.

Justin – I’ll be in touch with Mrs. Armstrong. I think you’ll have to postpone your session with her, because the school system is requiring teachers to do a short Blackboard class about on-line security. I’ll send her the information I’m presenting to our teachers this coming Wednesday (you may get out early but we don’t!)
I am really happy you like Canage. Algebra II is a tough class, so I can imagine your brain is getting a good workout. Eighth grade, even at DDMS, is a lot of work. Keep in touch when you can. I may have to change this website address (due to that security issuse) but I’ll definitely keep in touch and let you know. I want to hear how your year goes!
Hello! Carnage is going WONDERFULLY for me. School starts at 7:30 and ends at 2:25, and on Wednesdays we are always let out an hour early. My classes are Spanish I, Social Studies, Geography, Geometry, Language Arts, Eighth Grade Science, and Algebra II. There are so many tests, quizzes, and projects, as well as loads of homework (and a year ago I was complaining about the amount of homework at 7th grade!). Ms. Armstrong is VERY nice.
The best part is, Ms. Armstrong is going to do blogs with us! On Tuesday I will stay after class to help Ms. Armstrong set up her blog. I’m not sure how to manage a teacher blog, so could you please tell Ms. Armstrong how to set up a teacher blog? Thanks!
